Taken at a market behind my house. Not a common sight in Western countries, but increasingly common in Vietnam due to increased prosperity as this meat is expensive.

Though it might look as if this picture was taken 60 years ago (and is thus not eligible for the OA), it was actually taken just last month when I visited London. Kimchi's original request for the theme was film noir, which we broadened to black and white, but I thought I would choose a vintage picture anyway.
Haven't been able to think of a title yet so if you have a good suggestion, let me know in the C&Q thread or by clicking the image and commenting on Google+. Thanks!

Marlow Bridge on Christmas Day 2012.
The Thames was about 3 feet higher than usual and flowing fast.
The clouds were very low (as usual) and also moving fast.

A local church in the area shot on a cold, windy day just recently in Sydney. Maxed out the settings so that I could drag exposure out as long as I could to get as much movement in the cloud as possible.

View to Huangpu River and Pudong island in Shanghai - taken during my visit to Shanghai in April this year.

Alas the sky is often quite grey these days in China - be it the weather or the pollution - and overcast days are not always ideal for taking the camera out.

That´s why I converted this picture into black and white. It changed the look from boring to interesting for me ;)

I thought I'd give this competition another try:

Image

Taken with my Lumix GX1 and Lumix 100-300mm lens at:
218mm, f5.6, 1/1250, ISO 160

Converted to B&W in Silver Efex, cropped in LR

I headed down to the beach after work last Friday as hubby had been given an early finish and decided to go kitesurfing as the conditions were good for it. I thought I'd use it as an excuse to practice more with the 100-300mm lens to get some action shots of him. It was a great evening; sunny and relatively warm for a change and he ended up being the only one left out kiting as the sun was going down.

I liked the colour version of this image but I think the B&W adds drama and makes the white water stand out more.

Sarah

This is an aquaduct which carries the Bridgewater Canal over the Manchester Ship Canal. The transverse section swivels to allow large ships to pass down the lower ship canal. It was a bright but completely overcast day allowing a great tonal range. Cropped and converted to B&W in lightroom

This photo was taken during my first wedding shoot. I was using a single remote flash to get some rim light shots, when I discovered that the hairspray just lights up like fireworks when backlit. Seised the opportunity, and voilà! Definitely a trick to use again sometime.

B and W Cameralabs entry by Sean Le-Gallienne, on Flickr

This was taken on a breezy British day in a country park. I loved the look of silk the water surrounding the leaf gave. I found it hard to believe this was simply a leaf floating on water. Black and white strengthened the smoothness of the water for me.

Camera: Canon 1000D
Lens: 70-300mm IS USM
Shutter speed: 1/500
Aperture: 7.1
ISO: 200
